My name is Christopher. My journey into development is a bit unconventional: I went from waiting tables to “waiting to drop tables”. Within a few months of watching videos and solving code challenges, I started working on application development and web design for pay - which I used to launch me into more and more challenging positions. AI has been invaluable in helping me tackle the more complex aspects of coding, but I’ve also cultivated a solid understanding of the core technologies I use every day. I find my skills are strongest when I'm teaching someone else - which is why I wanted to run this development company out of El Salvador. I want to help others learn and grow, and I want to help businesses grow and succeed. I think with my technical aptitude, and my ability to communicate, I can help a lot of people.
Outside of work, I'm a giant nerd that's always loved games, jokes, and learning. On days I'm not coding you can find me running to the park, playing video games (My favorite are colony simulators! Something about playing God), going to the beach, or practicing my Spanish with friends. Since I used to be a waiter, I'm also a bit of a foodie - I love trying new foods and new recipes.
I had a tough year. I began it feeling very disillusioned as to my place in the tech industry. It was only during some travel did I realize that I should be doing what I love - teaching others how to succeed where I'd failed, and the only way I can do that is from a mentorship position. I'd like to hire from the local community, pay a fair wage for the Tech Industry overall, and help give back to the community that's shown me so much kindness and generosity. Also, the Pupusas are hard to beat.
I've been working in the tech industry for over 5 years now. I've been a website developer, a full stack website manager, a game developer, and a data analyst. I've worked with a variety of technologies, but I'm most comfortable with the following:
Language | Use |
---|---|
Python | my first language - used for data analysis, general development, and web development |
HTML5 / CSS3 / Javascript | the core of web development - Think of HTML like the skeleton, CSS like the skin, and Javascript like the muscles and nervous system |
Git | Version control is a must for any developer. How do many coders work on the same project without messing it all up? Git is the answer. |
Node.js | I use Node.js for frontend development, and for running my Svelte projects. |
Django | a Python framework that I use for backend development. It's a powerful tool that helps me build robust web applications. |
PostgreSQL | a powerful open-source database that I use for storing data in my web applications. |
Svelte | a new and exciting frontend framework that I use to build fast and responsive web applications. |
Nginx | a web server I use to reverse proxy my web applications - this increases security and performance. |
Docker | a tool for creating, deploying, and running applications using containers. It's a great way to ensure that my applications run the same way in any environment. |
Digital Ocean | a cloud infrastructure provider that I use to host my web applications. |
Cloudinary | a cloud-based image and video management service that I use to store and manipulate images in my web applications. |
Pillow | a Python Imaging Library that I use to manipulate images in my web applications. |
